More Bedtime Adventures

This is the latest tale in what will eventually be a book of stories about things my kids do when they are supposed to be sleeping.

8:00 – Lights out.

8:15 – KC finds me in the basement and tells me she found her towel in her room. I take the towel and send her back to bed.

8:45 –  I hear KC yelling for me to close her bedroom door. After a few minutes of her calling me, I go upstairs and close her door and remind her that she needs to go to sleep.

9:25 – I hear her little feet moving around in her room out of her bed. This goes on for several minutes and I determine that she is playing or dancing or something that does not involve going to sleep.

9:33 – I sneak upstairs so she doesn’t hear me coming. I open her door as she sprints back to her bed. Busted! I tell her that if she gets out of bed again, the night light will be turned off. She settles in and this appears to be the last incident of the evening.

9:38 – I am in the kitchen and I hear her screaming and crying for me. Thinking that she is now way past tired and is melting down because of our last meeting, I go to see what her latest problem is.

9:39 – She is crying hysterically and I am finally able to make out the words, “There’s a black thing stuck up in my nose.”

I look at her nose and it is bleeding. I send her to the bathroom and begin cleaning the blood. I can’t see anything in her nose. She calms down a little and tells me it is still stuck up there. I have her blow into a tissue a few times and finally a fuzz ball comes out in the tissue.

9:42 – We  have a discussion about how we should not shove things up her nose and I tuck her back into bed.

The end.

Crowder and Lecrae

At the 2:45 mark, Lecrae makes his entrance. No video, just audio. Cool stuff. You will probably have to jump out to YouTube to watch.

KC’s Night Time Adventures

KC has a creative imagination.  She does things at night before she falls asleep and has some of the craziest explanations for them. She gets these night time antics from me. This one was too funny to not share with you all. One night, Faith and I checked on her before going to bed and we found her like this.

That is one of her bears stuffed into her shirt.  See below for a closer look.

When I asked her about it the next day, she explained to me that the bear was the baby in her belly. I think she is going to be like her mom who loves being a mommy.

One Benefit To Unemployment

I did a lot of this yesterday and will do much of the same today.

NCAA Tourney in the bedroom.

NCAA Tourney in my favorite chair.

NCAA Tourney while on Twitter.

NCAA Tourney while the kids played outside.

NCAA Tourney while grilling out.

NCAA Tourney while cooking in the kitchen.

I have watched more of the tourney this year than I ever have in the past.  And thanks to the free streaming I can take it with me anywhere there is Internet. And if you are wondering why I am not watching it on TV, that is because we don’t have any cable or local channels.

Now Using Standard Theme

I finally gave in. I decided it was time to shell out the cash to purchase a premium theme for my blog. I was getting tired of my theme breaking stuff.  I would get an update and then you couldn’t read the blog.  I tried different themes that offered customization, but still ran into similar issues. I want to customize so that my blog will not look identical to anyone else’s.

Of course, I have done my homework on what theme to purchase. John Saddington and his crew over at 8Bit made my decision really easy. I decided to go with Standard Theme. The best thing about it for me is that I don’t have to worry about it not getting updated or fixed when WordPress updates. These guys are on top of it. It also has the customization that I am looking for as well as great SEO options.

So for now, my blog looks different, and maybe a little plain. It will take me some time to take where I want to, but I expect that you may see little changes from time to time.

Sometimes I Wonder…

Sometimes I wonder…..
what you are thinking about,
where your imagination takes you,
where you find the energy,
will we still be friends when you are a teenager,
how long before you outgrow being my little girl,
do your socks keep your arms warm at night,
do you know how much I love you?

Loving The New Album From Red

I Ask A Lot of Questions

For the past 3 weeks, I have had a blog post every weekday.  It has been a goal of mine to write enough in advance to have daily posts during the week.  I realized something as I was looking back at my blog posts.  I ask a lot of questions.

I think that is how I am wired to teach things.  I have led a lot of Bible studies over the past 12 years.  And that is how I teach the message.  I ask questions that lead people to find the answers.  So it seems that many of my blog posts come out the same way.  And with questions, answers are typically expected, but much of what I write here could be taken to make you think. Either way, I don’t get many comments on this blog.  Many people do read it, but the comments don’t come.

I am really okay with that because part of the reason I blog is to share what I am learning with others.  And it does not require feedback.  I enjoy the social aspect a lot, but it doesn’t make or brake my blog.

With that in mind, I realize that many of my readers do not comment on the posts and I want to try something different.  Looking back and evaluating what I have been writing has helped me to see what things I can do differently.  When I look at other blogs and see what they are doing to draw more readers and page views, I can see why my blog does not do that.

So I hope to write a little bit differently from time to time.  Instead of asking questions all of the time, I want to share more about what I have discovered.  And hopefully others will take more interest and find value in what I am writing about. I am already behind on posts this week, so I need to get to work.
