Yesterday I launched ChrisWalkerLive.com. I am not dumping this domain, but probably won’t be posting much here for the time being. I may turn it into something else eventually, but I don’t want to just delete the almost 1000 posts that I have here. I am launching the new blog in an attempt to unleash my ideas to the world. I have tried to stay structured here and on some other blog endeavors, but I just can’t limit myself to a handful of topics. So go check out the new site and please subscribe so you don’t miss out on new posts.
Something New
I haven’t been writing very much lately. I have been doing a lot more dreaming and soul searching about what I am contributing here. But I wanted to let you know that I am still here and I have plans to try something a little different. More on that to come in the future. For now I just wanted to check in and say hi. I hope that you are doing well.
I Didn’t Publish Anything Yesterday
The past 2 nights, I have not written anything to post to Churchpunk. I have some ideas, but none of them are complete yet. And instead of trying to write up something just to have a post in place, I decided to not post because I didn’t want to sacrifice value. I set a personal goal a few months ago to post at least once every weekday. I managed to do that and I saw a lot more consistent traffic, but sometimes I was just not happy with my completed work.
I am adjusting my goal now to try to focus more on the value of what I am writing. I have a lot of ideas and started drafts, but none of them are complete right now. That means my posting schedule may look a little different around here for a while because I am not holding myself to one. You also may get some posts of me just thinking out loud.
Either way, thanks for reading. I hope that I can continue to bring value to this blog that keeps you coming back for more.
Blogging About Technology
When I started this blog 4 years ago I think, I wrote a lot about technology and my family. But it evolved a little bit. I started writing more about church and ministry. Recently I have tried to focus on writing about church and ministry. I moved my family posts off to a Tumblr account. And only wrote about technology when it applied to something that fit my other categories. Yesterday I broke my own rules and wrote about Google+. I didn’t apply it to ministry ideas, just wanted to write about it. I also have some other technology posts that I would like to write. So I think I am going to add it back as a category and mix technology posts back into this blog. I wanted to get your opinion on it though because you are the ones who read the blog. I know that I get very few comments here, but if you have an opinion you want to share, please do.
I just broke another rule. I don’t usually post on Saturday. Its not really a rule though. I would post something everyday if I had more ideas. I may get there one day. So here is a bonus post for you.
Oh, and I like breaking rules depending on who made them.
Apps
I saw this on Joseph Dulaney’s blog today, but I wanted to repost this video because it is that funny. Also, how did they know that February 21st is my birthday.
The Family Blog
If you have been reading this blog only to see updates on the family, I am moving most of those types of postings over to a new site. It will be dedicated to pictures and videos of things that I do with my family. The new site is at http://teamwalker.tumblr.com/.
So go there and bookmark it or whatever you do and see more frequent updates of the latest adventures with Team Walker.
Changing Things Up
I have spent the last couple of weeks trying to consistently create content that is focused on a niche of sorts in hopes that I could launch a blog and just write about one thing. I have realized that right now, I don’t have the focus to pull that off. Knowing that I will be on full-time kid duty beginning on June 8th, I will not have the ability to focus on just writing everyday. It is important for me to do things with my kids and be a part of their lives as they are growing up more each day. I have the opportunity to do that this summer and I don’t want to pass it up.
So the good news is that I am back to blogging here about wherever my mind takes me. But I am working on applying some new things that I have learned to my blogging activities here. First, I am going to try to be more focused on writing about similar ideas. I am moving the family type updates to a completely different blog. So if you visit here just to get updates on the kids and our lives, you will probably want to book mark the new site when I am ready to launch it. I will post a link here soon when that is ready. If you follow me on Twitter and Facebook, you might start seeing updates there from the new site.
I am going to reserve this space for more about my journey as a follower of Jesus. I will share the things that I am learning and the struggles that I am facing. So if you have been waiting for more of what God is doing in my life then you will be getting more of that soon.
There are a few things that I am updating around here, so some of the pages may not be all up to date currently. Hopefully I will have things caught up very soon. Until then, keep checking back for new updates.
Sorry For The Hiatus
I am sorry that I haven’t been updating all that much. I have been on a little journey of self discovery as of late. It has led me down a path where I have tried reinventing myself in several different ways. Or at least reinventing my on line persona. But my conclusion is that I am who I am and Churchpunk really fits me well.
So I will be back to regular updates here and hope to reconnect with those that are still coming around here.
KC The Drama Queen
My latest story in adventures in parenthood.
Today I went to pick KC up from preschool. As they lined up to come out of the building, the fire alarm in the building went off. The kids had to walk out to their designated areas of safety before being released to their parents. As they walked out to the playground, the tornado sirens went off. Today being the first Wednesday of the month, they were testing them at noon as usual.
KC was already not very happy about the fire alarm. She did not like the loud noise at all and began melting down as they lined up outside. And then when the tornado sirens started, you would have thought the world was coming to an end. I claimed her and had to carry her to the car. She kept telling me through deep breaths and sobs that she just wanted me to get her into the car. She then tried to convince me to let her ride home on my lap.
I finally got her buckled in and she calmed down on our way home.
