Book Review – The Story of Christmas

Disclosure – I received a free copy of this book and DVD in exchange for a product review on my blog and on a consumer website.  This free item in no way has shaped my review of this book as I will give my honest opinion of the product.

‘The Story of Christmas’ is a book from the Read and Share Bible that I thought would be a lot of fun for my kids to read during Christmas. We try very hard every Christmas to teach our kids why we really celebrate each year. I thought that the included DVD would also be helpful to teaching my kids about the birth of Jesus. The stories were very good and easy to understand, but they were also very short. My kids do not read yet so we moved through the stories pretty quickly. I imagine that this would be a better book for children who are learning to read on their own. The DVD was cool, but it was pretty much a re-read of what was in the book. The kids thought it was neat that pictures on the TV matched the pictures in the book, but they lost interest pretty quickly. I will definitely keep the book to read each Christmas season and I think that when my kids begin to read the Bible for themselves, that this will be a fascinating read for them.

There are also a lot of advertisements for the Read and Share Bible on the DVD.  I felt it was a little overkill for what someone might purchase in a Christmas book.  The Read and Share Bible looks interesting as well, but I was not expecting the ads for it so much.

You can find more information and reviews of this book on the Thomas Nelson Website.
