I really enjoy that my kids are still little. It was fun this past weekend to see how simple things bring them joy. We checked into our hotel room and it was a whole new world to them. They both moved throughout the rooms exploring everything. They spent a long time dancing and making faces in the closet door mirrors. Then they figured out that the doors moved and started opening and closing them over and over watching their reflections and laughing. They realized that the bedroom door handles were not kid proof and started closing them, knocking, and opening them up exclaiming, hello!!!! This was repeated for quite some time as well. They also really like all of the buttons on the hotel room phones. We disconnected 2 of them and they spent an afternoon talking to each other on the phone.
Then there was the swimming pool. I remember being fascinated by being in water bigger than my bathtub. They were no different. Ephriam liked climbing up and down the stairs and then floating out into the pool with his water wings on just laughing the whole time. K.C. could not decide if she liked the jacuzzi or the pool better. She was eventually made to stay in the pool and repeatedly showed me how she could spit the water out of her mouth when she accidentally drank some.
I really just enjoy watching their fascination with things that are not so exciting to me anymore. It reminds me of how God intends us to love Him and find joy in all that He has created for us. How I long to have that innocence back again.
