Should Girls Be Allowed to Play HS Football?

Saw this article on ESPN about a girl dismissed from playing football for a private school because of her gender. I think that if she can make the team then she should be able to play.

Kacy Stuart has the leg to be a prospective high school place-kicker in Georgia.

Problem is, the administration of the Georgia Football League, the association for private-school teams in the state, said the 14-year-old freshman can’t play because she’s a girl, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Twitter Updater for WordPress

I have noticed lately that when I post to my blog, Twitter gets updated 3 times.  I get one duplicate because the plugin broke with the upgrade to WordPress 2.6.  The other duplicate comes from a previous update on the old domain I was using that was forwarding traffic to this new domain.  I have upgraded to a different plugin that I got here, and I have removed the old domain forwarding.  I am now ready to test the new Twitter updater to see if it works.  Here we go….

Olympic Athletes, or Professional Cheaters?

I was just reading about the latest investigation by the International Olympics Committee to determine if Chinese Authorities lied and covered up the true age of Gold Medalist He Kexin. I have to admit that the wonderful little gymnast looks extremely young for 16 years of age. She even looks very young compared to other gymnasts competing in the Olympics. At first this seemed like any other Olympic controversy, but then I remembered watching my friends play in the Little League World Series when I was 12. It always seems that the Chinese Little League Players all had mustaches. It really bothers me when people try to cheat in sporting events. When the steroid issue started to become a major issue with professional sports, I really started to lose faith in the professional athlete. I used to look up to them like superheroes, but now sometimes I just have to wonder if they are all just a bunch of cheaters. It is a shame to see Olympic Athletes cheating especially with the support of their own country. I guess we will see what comes of the He Kexin investigation. I also figure we may see her competing in the next 3 Summer Olympics. We’ll see how old she is then.

Wild Goose Chase – Mark Batterson

I have only just begun reading Mark Batterson’s new book and I find it very engaging so far.  I am looking forward to giving a full review of the book when I have completed it.  Here is some more information on the book for now.  Look for my full review in the near future.

Most of us have no idea where we’re going most of the time. Perfect.

“Celtic Christians had a name for the Holy Spirit–An Geadh-Glas, or ‘the Wild Goose.’ The name hints at mystery. Much like a wild goose, the Spirit of God cannot be tracked or tamed. An element of danger, an air of unpredictability surround Him. And while the name may sound a little sacrilegious, I cannot think of a better description of what it’s like to follow the Spirit through life. I think the Celtic Christians were on to something….

Most of us will have no idea where we are going most of the time. And I know that is unsettling. But circumstantial uncertainty also goes by another name: Adventure.” –from the introduction.

College Prank – Steve Goes to Nashville

I wanted to share this little presentation from college when some friends and I kidnapped a giant stuffed gorilla and took him to Nashville for a weekend.
