It has been a while since I just wrote a typical update on the latest happenings in my world at home. Faith does a good job of keeping everyone up to speed on her blog and the kids blog too even though they can’t type yet. But I thought that I was due to give some sort of update anyway. I just get more excited about technology stuff, so I tend to write about that most of the time.
What is new you ask? Actually, there is quite a bit going on with us. The big deal right now is working with Ephriam on getting help for his speech and occupational therapy. Several months ago we started to notice that he was not up to speed in his talk and actions and started to really work with him on talking more. He could say a lot of things, but basically he just didn’t want to talk. We practically had to hold him down to get him to say things. K.C. on the other hand is a jabber box. She reads books to us only it sounds like the Tasmanian Devil talking. We got a referral from the doctor to have Ephriam evaluated for developmental issues and we have found that he is a year or 2 behind in a lot of things. He is now in occupational therapy and we work with him at home everyday to learn new actions. We are trying to get him into Speech Therapy, but it has been a painstaking and frustrating process, mostly on Faith’s part, to get him scheduled. We are very excited though because he has come a long way in the last 6 months since we have been intentionally working with him on many things. He now talks and responds without much resistance and he can almost completely dress himself. Oh and I should mention that he has no problem undressing whatsoever, but that is another story. Please pray for Ephriam and for us as we work with him so that he can get caught up.
K.C. is advanced for her age and in some ways is ahead of Ephriam. I think that they help each other developmentally. But she is my 2 year old that won’t be 2 until July. Ephriam was such a laid back kid that didn’t fuss much and K.C. is the temper flaring, my way or the highway wild child. She is growing up fast and quickly learning that she can have daddy wrapped around her little finger if she would just turn on the charm. I am working on building up my resisting super powers to repel the almighty charming smile of the baby girl. I have seen her use it on grandpa a time or two as well. I have my work cut out for me that’s for sure. She has no fear and will try anything. She is learning to step down stairs and it is really funny to watch because she kicks her foot out like she is stepping up and then falls forward. She will not be attempting this daring move without an adult. She got mad the other night when I picked her up to take her down the steps. The kids are playing well together and can turn a room upside down in minutes.
Faith and I are enjoying our times with our new small group. It feels like we haven’t been in a while with the holidays and Faith couldn’t go last time. We have started a book called ‘The Insider.’ It is about reaching people for Christ in our everyday lives at work, at school, on the playground, or wherever we find ourselves. I blogged about the book earlier, but I have not written my review on it yet because I only finished reading it last week. Last week at Small Group I played the Wii for the first time. You know I had to throw something technerdical in here. All of the couples in our group have kids and they all play together while we meet. We are very lucky to have found this group and they are letting us stay. They may change their minds once they really get to know us LOL!!! We have mostly been busy with our kids and traveling to see family a lot lately. We are hoping things will slow down on the traveling side here after our last Christmas trip. We are looking forward to spending more time at home where we have several projects facing us. Its all about organization lately and we have to figure out where all of the new toys are going to go. Our kids are spoiled rotten.
So that is kind of where things are at right now. I am sure there is other stuff, but its probably just not on my mind. I am sure that Faith will cover all of the details in her blog if you are interested.
